This year’s Tea Room Tour should be another great adventure. I am very excited to start the day at Baratta’s in the State Historical Building. We will enjoy fabulous quiche, muffins, fruit and a drink. A surprise awaits and will be revealed before traveling on to Newton’s new Shay’s Tea Room and Gifts. While at Shay’s, we will learn how to tie scarves. So, if you have a scarf that you don’t know how to wear, bring it along. We will have time to take in Newton’s downtown and make a visit to the dress shop and/or the quilt shop. These Tea Room Tours fill up fast, so call for your reservation today. Cost: $67

Visiting the $18+ million revitalized Frank Lloyd Wright Hotel is much too exciting to turn into a Mystery Trip. This will be a spectacular day with a visit to the Stockman House and gift shop, a tour of the Rock Glen and Rock Crest areas, lunch at the Decker House, a tour of the beautiful Park Inn Hotel (the only Frank Lloyd Wright Hotel left standing in the world) and a visit to the Central Gardens of North Iowa. Cuba has finally opened up to visiting U.S. citizens. We are going to be among the first to travel "back in time." My sister was there a couple of years ago, but had to have her passport stamped in Mexico before entering Cuba. She called me and raved about the "time warp" and the old pristine cars. Let’s fly to Barcelona and take in the sights of the art nouveau buildings, including Gaudi’s unfinished La Sagrada Famiglia Cathedral. After sightseeing, we will have a "Welcome" dinner and a Flamenco Dance Show. The next day, we are off to Arles with its treasure trove of Roman antiquities. Then we are onto Avignon, where we will enjoy the "Palace of the Popes" and the famous Pont Benezet. We will board the TGV Train, France’s high-speed rail service, and arrive in Paris for a 2-night stay.
