Community State Bank sponsors “Jim’s Ride” to benefit Orchard Place

Community State Bank, N.A., is proud to be the presenting sponsor of the first annual Jim Goodman Memorial Bike Ride – “Jim’s Ride” – Saturday, September 20.

The ride will benefit Orchard Place, Iowa’s leading advocate for children with mental health and juvenile justice issues, where Goodman served as board president until his untimely passing June 22.

Registration for “Jim’s Ride” will begin at 8:30 a.m. at the West Capitol Terrace on the State Capitol Grounds. The 15-mile and 25-mile “pro rides” along Meredith Bike Trail start at 9:30 a.m.; a shorter 5-mile “family ride” will follow at 10:00 a.m.

Registration fees are $25 for adults, $10 for children under 12, and $50 for a family entry. After the ride, participants will enjoy a picnic lunch, live music and a Kids’ Village featuring inflatables, crafts and games.

“Orchard Place plays a vital role in our community by helping thousands of at-risk youth each year, and CSB is pleased to support to their mission,” said Mark Degner, President and CEO of Community State Bank.

Registration forms will be available at CSB’s 10 banks in the Des Moines metro, as well as all Dahl’s Foods stores. In addition to CSB and Dahl’s, “Jim’s Ride” is also sponsored by Des Moines Truck Brokers Inc., along with media partners Central Iowa Business magazine, Clear Channel Outdoor and WHO-TV 13.

The event is being organized by friends, family members and business associates as a tribute to Goodman. In addition to his numerous business ventures, political involvement, civic commitments and charitable contributions, Goodman was generous with his time and knowledge. He coached his daughter’s soccer team, hosted a weekly radio show, was a columnist for a monthly business magazine, and adjunct professor at Drake University. Most importantly, Goodman was a dedicated family man who enjoyed spending quality time with his wife Lisa and three daughters – Natalie, Ellie and Rubie.

For registration information, visit www.jimsride.com or contact Katie Albrecht at 287-9605 or kalbrecht@orchardplace.org.
