Community State Bank has s elected the winners of its first $20,000 Community Enrichment Grant program.
Designed to support non-profit improvement projects in the Des Moines metro area, each CSB branch will award a $2,000 grant. The 10 recipients and their improvement projects are:
· Ankeny – Ankeny Blvd: New Horizons Adult Day Center for new commercial grade flooring in the main activity area at Neveln Community Resource Center, where they care for adults with traumatic brain injury or chronic medical problems.
· Ankeny – Oralabor: Animal Rescue League of Iowa (ARL) for landscaping at the front entrance of its new 42,000 sq-ft. facility, including rocks, boulders, bushes, grasses, an animal-themed statuary and pet watering station.
· Ankeny – White Birch: City of Ankeny Parks & Recreation for the addition of a flagstone path and seating area at the Art Center Rose Garden, including benches, annual and perennial flowers, and a statue created by a local artist.
· Altoona – 8th St. SE: Willowbrook Elementary/SE Polk C.S.D. for a cooperative Literacy Garden project designed in part by the students; features include reading benches, stepping stones created by students and plants selected and planted by students.
· Des Moines – Euclid: Des Moines Dream Center to support various "Dream Team Saturday" neighborhood cleanup and service projects in the Evelyn Davis Park Community.

· Des Moines – SE 14th: Greater Joy Learning Center for design and construction of playground equipment for its 1400 sq-ft. fenced play area serving up to 90 day care children.
· Des Moines – E 33rd: Eastwood Open Bible Church for two new freezers and additional supplies to support the Angel Food Ministries program and expand its existing food pantry currently serving 30 families.
· Pleasant Hill – N. Hickory: Oakwood United Methodist Church for the "FairFlix" Deaf/Blind Outreach project providing media access equipment at Copper Creek Theaters to make movie entertainment available to deaf or blind members of the community.
· Johnston – Merle Hay: Polk County Master Gardeners for electrical power at the Demonstration Garden behind Walker Johnston Park for presentation equipment and evening program lighting needs.
· Waukee – E. University: Waukee Leadership Institute for initial training, communication and promotion of the new Waukee Community Grant Writers Group that offers professional grant writing services to various community interests.

Non-profit, civic or government projects of historical, recreational, cultural, educational or charitable in nature were eligible, with special consideration given to those benefiting low to moderate income populations.
