It is that time of year again where we celebrate "love" on Valentine’s Day. This year we will enjoy lunch at Christopher’s. "In the heart of Beaverdale, one of Des Moines’ oldest and most charming neighborhoods is Christopher’s Restaurant. Christopher’s has a long and proud history in Des Moines dining, as this location has been serving not only Beaverdale, but the entire Des Moines Metro area for more than 61 years." You may choose Chicken Parmigiana or Orange Roughy Romesco as your entrée. You are sure to enjoy the 2012 Valentine’s Day Luncheon. Call for your reservation early and let me know which entrée you would like. Please feel free to invite a guest or two, the party room at Christopher’s is big, and it would be great to fill it.

Join me for this exciting trip to a charming part of our country. We will ride a motorcoach to Chicago, where we will board the City of New Orleans Train. Upon arrival in New Orleans, we will tour the city and stay in the Bienville House Hotel, located in the French Quarter. We will also go to Natchez to see the Antebellum Mansions and cruise the Bayou. We will also visit Lafayette and Vermillionville. We will board the train in Lafayette to arrive back in the Chicago and ride the motorcoach home. The price also includes 10 meals. For as long as I have been at CSB, people have been asking me for this trip. Everyone who attended the travelogue was excited to hear about this exceptional excursion, which includes a four night stay at the Banff Springs Hotel. No trip to this area of Canada would be complete without visits to gorgeous Victoria with the Butchert Gardens and Lake Louise. We have 19 people signed up for this trip. After begging for more spaces, we are able to accept 11 more members.

Again, the "Thrifty" trip sold out within a matter of a couple of days…BUT do not fear, I have added a second motorcoach with Josephine and Frank Lenzini graciously accepting to serve as hosts. I will host the first coach, along with Kathy Williams, who has fallen in love with traveling with you all. Let’s fly to Barcelona and take in the sights of the art nouveau buildings, including Gaudi’s unfinished La Sagrada Famiglia Cathedral. After sightseeing, we will have a "Welcome" dinner and a Flamenco Dance Show. The next day, we are off to Arles with its treasure trove of Roman antiquities. Then we are onto Avignon, where we will enjoy the "Palace of the Popes" and the famous Pont Benezet. We will board the TGV Train, France’s high-speed rail service, and arrive in Paris for a 2-night stay. We will tour the City of Lights and have some free time to stroll the Champs Elysees and visit the Louvre. I hope you will join me on this exciting adventure.
